Wonderful Town at the FCCT on June 11

Winner of mutiple awards in Thailand and at film festivals abroad, and acclaimed by critics, Wonderful Town gets one more screening in Bangkok on Thursday night, June 11, at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand.

The romantic drama is set in a small, isolated town in coastal Phang Nga province, three years after the 2004 tsunami hit, and the spectre of death still lingers. A big-city architect (Supphasit Kansen) is in town to oversee the building of a new beach resort. He stays in the town's older hotel, which is run by a pensive young woman (Anchalee Saisoontorn), and the pair begin a tentative, tender romance. But the woman's troublesome brother is looming.

Director Aditya Assarat is supposed to will be present for a Q&A session on Thursday night. Perhaps he'll talk about his upcoming projects, which include a segment for the Saneh Bangkok omnibus, and his next feature, High Society, starring Ananda Everingham. Maybe he'll even talk more about his search for a "Michelle Williams-type actress" to fill a role in High Society.

The showtime is at 8pm. Admission for non-members is 150 baht, and it's 100 baht more for anyone wanting to sample the wine.

Update: Lekha says Aditya has confirmed he'll be there with producer Soros Sukhum and award-winning actress Anchalee Saisoontorn.
